Dispenser drawers are prone to the build-up of mould and detergent residue. This build up can prevent detergent from being taken your washing machine and water spraying out of the front of the washer.

If your washing machine isn't consistently dispensing the cleaning product into your washer's system, there may be a problem with the dispenser unit.
